Medina, Yolanda

Mrs. MedinaWelcome to 2C
My name is Yolanda Medina

I received my Bachelor's and Master's Degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. I have taught 5th/6th Grade. I have also taught First Grade for 15 years, and Second Grade for 3 years.

I have been blessed with a wonderful family. My husband and I, of thirty-three years, have two beautiful daughters, and three adorable granddaughters. Family time is very important to me. I enjoy movies, traveling and sports; mainly football and basketball (go Cowboys, Miners, and Spurs!).  I also play in a co-ed volleyball team and consider myself a novice runner.

Reading and writing is very important in the early years. It sets the foundation for all subjects and grade levels. Homework is given Monday-Thursday. It will cover concepts taught for the day.   Daily homework is reading to/with your child at least 20 minutes a day, including weekends. This will be easy to accomplish when it becomes a bed time ritual.

I look forward to working with you throughout the year.  My conference time is 9:00-9:45 everyday, with the exception of Wednesdays.  The school number is 236-5975. You can also contact me at ymedina@episd.org.

I truly believe, it has to be a partnership between parent and teacher to help every child succeed.
