Maria A Blanco

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Dual Language Kindergarten at Park Elementary.

I would also like to take this opportunity to share with you a bit about myself and my philosophy as a Kindergarten teacher.

My name is Maria Blanco, I was born, raised and educated in El Paso, Texas. I was blessed with twin daughters, Reeda Roxanne and Meagan Michelle Blanco. My daughters graduated from Hanks High School June 2012. They were both accepted to the University of Texas At El Paso.  My amazing husband Michael Blanco is a Business Applications Support Specialist with E.P.I.S.D. He has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems and a Master's Degree in Educational Technology Leadership.

I am a proud graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with certifications in Early Childhood, Special Education, Kindergarten, Bilingual Education and Physical Education. I have been teaching for 33 years (Wow! that long already..) at Edgar Park Elementary.

My first teaching assignment was in the Special Education Early Childhood Unit. After teaching a few years in the Early Childhood Unit I worked on my Kindergarten and Bilingual Certifications. I moved on to a Kindergarten Bilingual assignment which I have been teaching for the past 30 years.

My current assignment is teaching 50% of instruction in English in the Dual Language 50/50 Model

These are my beliefs for teaching young children:

I believe that every child is talented and capable of learning.

I believe children need encouragement, consistency and clear expectations.

I believe every child is unique and special.

I believe in having high expectations in my classroom.

Be assured that I will do my best to make this school year an enjoyable time for your child filled with lots of learning both academically and socially.  I will guide and encourage your child every step of the way.

I strongly believe in establishing and maintaining good communication with my parents. You may contact me by email or send a written note in your child’s school agenda as soon as they are available.

I look forward to a fantastic school year!

With Great Expectations,

Mrs. Maria Blanco
